ALDI is a family-owned business that was founded in 1913. In 1961, it was divided into two independent entities: ALDI SOUTH and ALDI Nord. Although both groups are linked by family ties, they are legally and economically separate. Apart from Germany, each group operates in different countries.
Our international operations are managed and coordinated under the umbrella of ALDI SÜD KG in Austria. The national operations in Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Hungary, and Italy are collectively referred to as HOFER S/E (South East). We also have operations in the USA, the UK and Ireland, Australia and China. In Germany, our business is run by a group of independent regional companies.
The international departments are located in Salzburg, Austria and Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany. Besides sustainability, procurement, and supply chain services, they provide IT, audit, finance, and administration services to all ALDI SOUTH companies.
Our Asian Office in Hong Kong SAR, China, provides support in the area of buying, while our sustainability units in Hong Kong SAR, China, and Dhaka, Bangladesh, support the implementation of our sustainability goals in Asia.
