Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC)
The Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC) is a programme of the Smart Freight Centre (SFC), a non-profit organisation focused on reducing the emissions impact of global freight transport. The SFC works with companies and NGOs to measure the impact of freight, identify solutions and support logistics decarbonisation strategies.
The ALDI SOUTH Group was the first grocery retailer to join the Smart Freight Centre's Global Logistics Emissions Council in 2022. This membership allows us to participate in the Council's projects that promote the transition to a zero-emissions freight and logistics sector.
After our stores, transport logistics is the largest source of operational greenhouse gas emissions. We aim to minimise the environmental footprint of our business, and efficient logistics is key to this.
