ALDI ranked fourth in the ‘Corporate Fibre and Materials Benchmark 2019' for organic and recycled cotton
Textile Exchange have released the ‘2019 Material Change Insights Report’ summarising the fibre and materials sourcing of more than 170 brands and retailers in the textiles industry. ALDI SOUTH and ALDI North are featured as the fourth largest retailers regarding the uptake of organic and recycled cotton by volume. This benchmarking emphasises that we are creating material change and are heading in the right direction to offer our customers sustainably sourced cotton.

Textile Exchange is a global non-profit that identifies the leaders in the sustainable fibre and materials industry. The organisation manages and promotes leading industry standards, collects and publishes critical industry data and insights that enable brands and retailers to measure, manage and track their use of fibre and materials. In the ‘2019 Material Change Insights Report’ companies sourced nearly 40% of their materials from preferred sources.

"It’s time to rethink the textiles industry to make it fit for the future. But first we need to know where we stand, and this is where the Material Change Insights Report comes in."
Liesl Truscott, Textile Exchange European and Materials Strategy Director

ALDI is committed to standards that achieve long-term sustainable improvements in the cultivation of cotton. We will use 100% sustainable cotton for our own-brand garments and household textiles by 2025. The result of the Textile Exchange’s ‘Corporate Fibre and Materials Benchmark’ emphasises our progress towards this goal.
