The ALDI SOUTH Group has joined the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative (SAI) Platform, a non-profit network of nearly 200 global members leading the food and drink industry’s transition to regenerative agriculture and sustainable food production systems. Through this membership, ALDI will work with fellow SAI Platform members to support credible, aligned approaches across our agricultural supply chains.
ALDI sees regenerative agriculture as a practical pathway to improving on-farm environmental outcomes. This includes supporting farmers to adopt practices that enhance soil health, biodiversity, climate action, water stewardship, and long-term resilience.
As part of the SAI Platform, we will help shape aligned definitions and tools that support credible sustainable and regenerative agriculture practices. This includes engaging in core programmes, including the Regenerating Together Programme, to promote a consistent approach across the sector.
Our engagement in SAI Platform’s dairy working group will build on the progress we have already made in this commodity. In the United Kingdom, ALDI has partnered with Arla Foods since 2018 through the ALDI Dairy Farm Partnership, supporting high welfare standards and lower on farm emissions.
ALDI further strengthened this collaboration in 2024 by committing up to £30 million in investment to the FarmAhead™ Customer Partnership, an initiative at supporting farmers’ ongoing efforts to reduce on-farm emissions.
In the United States, ALDI is advancing similar efforts as a member of the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy’s Dairy Sustainability Alliance, working with industry partners to identify solutions that reduce the environmental impact of dairy production.
