Appellando - Alliance for grievance mechanisms in supply chains
Appellando is a multi-stakeholder framework that aims to harmonise grievance mechanisms globally and organise solutions with partners to protect human rights and the environment in supply chains. Appellando's mission is to ensure that every worker and rightsholder can access help through trusted channels.
ALDI SOUTH Group joined the newly formed alliance in 2023 and has helped develop the initiative. This alliance establishes and supports a sector-wide framework for grievance mechanisms for fresh fruit and vegetable supply chains from Spain and South Africa and is currently exploring expansion to Italy.
We believe that no single retailer has the power to address all the human rights and environmental issues in the supply chain on its own. This is a shared responsibility and we are proud to be part of the Appellando initiative, helping to ensure that our collective energy is channelled into providing access to effective remedies for rights holders.
