Pakt gegen Lebensmittelverschwendung
The Pact against Food Waste is an initiative by the German Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity. It sets five mandatory goals and reflects a firm commitment to combating food waste and fostering a more sustainable food system for the benefit of the environment and society as a whole.

ALDI SÜD Germany and ALDI Nord signed the pact in 2023, valid until the end of 2031. We have committed to five mandatory goals:
- Reduce food waste by 30% by 2025 and by 50% by 2030
- Expand food donations
- Follow the principle of waste avoidance, donate surplus food, and dispose of as little as possible
- Handle returns responsible
- Train personnel in relevant goods handling
In addition, ALDI SÜD Germany and ALDI Nord will implement at minimum eight optional measures per calendar year within their areas of responsibility or at the interfaces with suppliers, customers, and donation partners.
