The Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEP) is a joint initiative between the UN Women and UN Global Compact. Its aim is to empower and promote women and gender equality in the workplace, marketplace, and community. They are based on international labour and human rights standards and call on organisations to support gender equality and women’s empowerment.
The ALDI SOUTH Group considers it its duty to treat all customers, employees, and partners fairly and without discrimination. Equality means that all human rights are considered fundamental values and that these are equally respected by our employees. These principles are also reflected in our global Diversity & Inclusion Policy. Signing the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles is part of our continuous drive to improve the workplace for all employees and highlights our commitment to treat all genders fairly and with equal opportunities at ALDI.
The ALDI SOUTH Group is committed to building an inclusive culture that values diversity in all its forms. The Women’s Empowerment Principles reflect these values. By signing the principles in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia, Great Britain & Ireland, Australia, China and Hong Kong, the ALDI SOUTH Group has publicly committed to promoting practices that empower women in all areas of our business and supply chain. Their focus is on a holistic strategy - they have set themselves ambitious goals to ensure equal opportunities for all employees.
By engaging internal and external stakeholders and building on industry practices, the ALDI SOUTH Group is promoting business practices that promote gender equality for all. This is reflected in our International Policy on Gender Equality in ALDI’s Supply Chains. This step is related to the existing membership of ALDI SOUTH Group in the Activator Programme of the Women’s Empowerment Principles, where we are working to close the gender gap in the private sector.
