Advancing Sustainability: ALDI SOUTH Group extends ethical sourcing to avocados
Two years after the launch of ALDI SOUTH Group’s responsible sourcing strategy, Franka Rodriguez, Director of Global Sourcing, discusses the expansion of their ethical sourcing model to include avocados. Avocados represent a new step in our journey toward responsible fresh produce sourcing. The dynamics in avocado production are different from bananas and pineapples where we can source fruit from the same growers 52 weeks a year. We therefore needed to develop a strategy that accounts for the various avocado sources globally while maintaining a streamlined and equitable sourcing model.
