Since its inception in 2012, the Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare (BBFAW) has become the leading global measure on the animal welfare performance, management and disclosure in the food sector. The latest annual report has now been released with these key findings:

• The pace of change is accelerating – companies increasingly recognise farm animal welfare as integral to their business strategy
• Companies are working to ensure their farm animal welfare management systems are effective
• Companies are prioritising action on close confinement and non-therapeutic antibiotic us.
• Management systems and processes appear to be delivering better welfare outcomes for farm animals but progress is slow
• Food companies are starting to address systemic challenges to driving higher welfare standards

Having improved our BBFAW performance compared to the last year (Tier 3) further encourages us to continue our work in the fields of animal welfare.
