ALDI SÜD Group joins the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef

The ALDI SÜD Group has joined the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (GRSB), reinforcing its commitment to support building more resilient and sustainable food systems through collaboration across the beef value chain.

The GRSB is a global, multi-stakeholder initiative focused on advancing continuous improvement in the sustainability of the global beef value chain. Through collaboration, science, and innovation, GRSB works to ensure beef is produced responsibly, transparently, and in ways that benefit people, animals, and the planet.

Through its participation, ALDI supports the initiative’s five principles and criteria covering

  • natural resources,
  • people & communities,
  • animal health & welfare,
  • food, and
  • efficiency & innovation.

These areas align closely with ALDI’s efforts to support food-system resilience, farming communities, responsible sourcing, and driving continuous improvement across its beef supply chain.

They also complement ALDI’s broader work to advance regenerative agriculture practices that help improve soil health, enhance biodiversity, strengthen resilience to climate-related challenges, and support long-term farm productivity.

Through participation in the GRSB, the ALDI SÜD Group will collaborate with industry partners and stakeholders to share knowledge promote leading practices and contribute to progress on key priorities in beef production.

The initiative provides a platform for driving meaningful progress on issues including climate, nature, animal welfare and livelihoods, while helping secure the long-term availability and affordability of beef products for customers.

Why action in the beef sector matters

A resilient food system depends on resilient beef production. From climate change and nature loss to increasing pressure on farmers and natural resources, the challenges facing the sector are complex and interconnected.

Addressing them requires collective action across the value chain to support farming communities, protect ecosystems, and strengthen the long-term availability and affordability of food.

Collaboration through initiatives such as the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef helps drive collective action that can lead to the systems change needed to support sustainable beef production.

This includes efforts to lower greenhouse gas emissions, adapt to climate-related challenges, improve outcomes for farmers and their associated communities, and encourage regenerative agriculture approaches that restore and maintain healthy soils, enhance biodiversity, and strengthen ecosystem resilience.
